  1. I tried to put a funny text picture in the comments but blogger keeps reformatting it so that it's unrecognisable. :(

    2. It's probably them that made me get depressed and go off to eat crisps instead of trying again too.

    3. Crisps were developed by the UK Space Agency in 1968 as a form of space-food, easily consumable in space. Scientists developed the crisp to have the nutritional and flavor values of different, traditional British meals. A Cheese and Onion crisp, for example, is the equiliiveant of one Ploughmans Lunch (itself invented by the Cheese Marketing Board), whereas a Roast Beef flavoured crisp is the equivalent of a sunday lunch. Some time in 1978 the Government legislated against the consumption of all other foodstuffs as being 'too costly to produce, inefficient in their energy values and bland' nationalised the crisp making facilities of Smiths and Walkers, slaughtered the majority of livestock in a mass cull and turned over all agricultural land to the production of the potato. In mid 1980 endorphine releasing neurochemicals were added to the crisps to overcome the psychological effects of malnutrition.

  2. Lots of bleak children's stuff in the 70's too. Children of the Stone, Sky, Come back Lucy and The Changes etc.

    1. Just watched the opening titles of ''Come back Lucy'' and cacked me pants. Cheers!

Packed lunches, GPO telephones, ouija boards, north sea gas and the threat of mutually assured destruction.

    2. Children of the Stones was the scariest kids programme EVER. Hartley Hare has a lot to answer for too. Also check this out: http://prettyfantasmagorical.com/

    3. Yikes - Moon Dial was pretty terrifying!

Green Knowe and Box of Delights were a bit unsettling too. At least 80's educational TV wasn't at all scary...

Back on the bleak Armageddon topic - don't forget the dangers of Strangers, electircity, water, Aids and pretty much everything else.

And remember Kids - be good or Noseybonk will come for you!

    4. Watch out for the Helvetica scenario - sometimes encountered in the industrial manufacture of calcium.

    5. Thanks Thantsants; Thanksantsants.

Hmm, Moondial, I think I was more interested in Siri Neal running around in her nighty than being spooked. hmm...

Never saw Box of Delights, which is a bit odd as it is certainly my cup of tea. Lovely neopaganish sequence with herne the hunter - who was definately the hardest working horned man of the 80s.

Region / factions will probably consist of ITV broadcasting licensees of the 80s with their unique heraldry and successor legion heritage.
